Yates School Age Program

Our Mission: The mission of Richard T. Yates Elementary School is to provide an educational program that meets the needs of our diverse population of students. We believe that our children must have an educational foundation that will prepare them to meet the challenges they will face in the future. Our school provides an enriching balance of educational best practices with an added touch of nurturing to empower our students for their future. Our program focuses on all content areas with a strong emphasis in language arts and math. Parents play a crucial role in providing children with the values and skills essential to their success. Yates is committed to involving parents and the community in our focus to educate children. We are committed to making a difference in each child’s life.

Our school continues to grow due to the involvement of parents, teachers, staff, students, community volunteers and business partners. Our teachers are dedicated to providing every child with the best educational opportunity possible. Each teacher provides quality instruction aligned with the state Standards of Learning (SOL) objectives.

We realize the importance of developing in each child an attitude of self-respect and self-worth. We provide a variety of opportunities for pupils to form meaningful and responsible relationships with peers and other significant adults. at Yates, each child is a worthwhile and special person, worthy of the best. Your son or daughter can look forward to participating in rich instructional experiences, and will have the opportunity to participate in various clubs and activities.

When your child enrolls at Yates Elementary, he or she will receive a student Agenda Planner. Please review it together with your son or daughter. It contains valuable and essential information concerning policies and procedures that will be helpful to you and your child during the school year. You may be assured that we will make every effort to provide your child with an environment where he or she can feel safe and free from disruption while learning.

A partnership between school and home is critical in our efforts to maximize student achievement. We encourage you to become involved in the numerous school and classroom activities that we have throughout the year.
