In the fall of 1964 ground was broken just east of Orwigsburg Borough to construct a 16-room elementary school. This new structure-Blue Mountain Elementary East School-served children in grades kindergarten through fifth grade. However due to a steadily growing influx of student population our citizens were again faced with the expansion of these building facilities in 1988. Currently this school houses approximately 700 students and we continue to serve children kindergarten through fifth grade.

We believe that every child should have the opportunity to come to school in a caring and nurturing environment. With every decision made we weigh the impact it will have on our students. We believe every child can and should grow academically physically emotionally and socially.

Students can serve their peers on the Safety Patrol participate as Peer Mediators conduct and lead the morning school announcements along with many other myriad of programs and activities. Each grade will present a chorus program for the school and parents one time during the school year. A program called Student of the Month recognizes several students each month for various academic or attitudinal categories.

Many parents and family members become involved through activities such as PTO classroom volunteers Principals Advisory Board etc. The Blue Mountain Elementary East faculty and staff are among the most child-centered group of people one could hope to know. We look forward to the opportunity to enhance the educational experience of all children!
