We believe that school staff, parents and family members, and the students themselves all have a significant impact on the academic, physical, and emotional development of our students. It is our mission to work together with families to provide a variety of high quality educational and social experiences that foster academic, emotional, and social growth, promote individual excellence and positive group connections, and effectively prepare students for life after high school.

The staff at Copper Canyon Academy believes in every student’s ability to be successful. Smaller, safer classrooms allow students to receive more individualized attention, and formal student recognition programs offer positive feedback and direction to all. The traditional campus includes a full-size gymnasium and spacious playground areas, promoting positive, diverse social interaction and active student & family participation in the school’s activities.

The curriculum at Copper Canyon Academy meets or exceeds state standards and includes all of the core subject requirements along with special interest classes. Increased focus on the fundamentals of reading, math, and writing provide each student with the opportunity to learn and practice these vital skills on a consistent basis. Specific curriculums utilized include HSP math, Houghton Mifflin reading, the Write Source, and Pearson/Prentice Hall science. In addition, students enrolled in 6th-8th grade are required to read at least four (4) novels each year to promote increased reading skills and provide direct experience with a variety of literature.

Students participate in specials classes on a daily basis, rotating between subject areas to increase their exposure to a variety of topics. These classes include health and physical education, character education & personal development, and music appreciation.

Through our Response to Intervention (RtI) program, additional support is available from the school’s Literacy Specialist for students identified as struggling in reading. Many teachers also offer before and after school tutoring as arranged with the parent.
