The philosophy at the Poughkeepsie Day Nursery is that children learn through play exploration and discovery. Reading The Pre-school and Pre-kindergarten curriculum is specifically designed to prepare children for their public school experience and focuses on language development reading readiness math science and social and emotional growth. Hands-on activities and open-ended projects stimulate a child’s curiousity while building self-esteem. Our interactive curriculum allows children the opportunity to develop eye/hand coordination and to develop fine motor skills.
The Poughkeepsie Day Nursery believes that parents are their children’s primary teachers and we strive to make the Nursery an extension of the children’s home. Communication between home and school is an essential ingredient and is accomplished by daily entries in a notebook that is sent home with each child.
School wide events are planned throughout the year and families are encouraged to join in on the fun. Some of these events include a Fall Festival Thanksgiving Feast Mother’s Day Breakfast and Family Picnic.
