Faith Child Care and Nursery School is a Christian program located in Faith Lutheran Church 2576 Browncroft Boulevard in Penfield.
For over thirty years Faith Lutheran Church was well known for its Christian Nursery School program. In September 1986 the church made a commitment to expand its ministry of service to members and to the community by also opening a child care program for children. A well-rounded faith-based age-appropriate program was designed for two through 5 year-olds. We expanded again in September 1996 with the addition of a school-age program for children in first through sixth grade inclusive. We take great pride in our programs. Our teachers represent a variety of Christian denominations and they were drawn to this early childhood program because of their strong commitment to the Christian faith. All of our lead teachers are professional educators with both experience and education in early childhood education. Each person working at FCCNS has been chosen because she/he loves and enjoys working with young children. Great care is taken in planning and caring for our youngsters. Our facilities are safe cheerful inviting and geared especially to little children. Our classrooms are well furnished with equipment and toys that are fun and educational. We have two fenced-in playgrounds and a spacious indoor play area equipped with a variety of gym equipment. The fields surrounding the fenced-in playground also provide space for a large variety of outdoor activities especially for our older children. The staff at FCCNS believes that each child who attends our school comes to us as a unique very special individual. Individual is the key word when explaining our philosophy. Our program is aimed at providing developmentally appropriate activities determined by taking two things into consideration: Is the activity suitable for a child of a particular age; and is the activity suitable for the particular child? We want every child to feel loved and to love those around them. He/she will become a comfortable contributing and cooperative member of his/her particular age group and of the larger multi-age group. Through our carefully planned curriculum each child has the opportunity to experiment with many different art mediums manipulative materials blocks books musical instruments and other stimulating and interesting resources. He/she has many opportunities to develop the skills needed to grow and learn. Our children grow creatively through dramatic play experiences exposure to a variety of books and stories and projects that focus on process rather than product. Many opportunities are provided to encourage both large and fine muscle development through a variety of equipment in our playground big room and classrooms.
Through songs stories and by example our children learn the fundamentals of living as Christian children. They learn that Jesus is their Lord and Savior. He loves them helps them and is their friend at all times.
