Stony Brook School

Stony Brook School is committed to providing the best education for all students. In order to achieve that goal, we need the support and involvement from the students, staff, parents and community. We encourage all to join with us as partners in learning. We invite our parents and local resources to share their expertise with the students and foster that community partnership. We have programs from other outside experts on topics related to the curriculum varying from Health, Science, History and the Fine and Performing Arts.

A key factor in establishing high standards is to create a supportive learning environment that builds students self-esteem and allows risk-taking. Both are essential to educating the whole child. Our teachers use brain based research, differentiated learning, multiple intelligences, cooperative learning, peer sharing and interactive strategies to improve learning. Our students are nurtured in an environment where the emphasis is on cooperation, focusing on the positive and working together as a team. Our curriculum is aligned with the New Jersey Core Curriculum Content Standards.
