Named after the founder of Individual Psychology the school follows the basic philosophical guidelines developed by Alfred Adler. Everyone is treated as an equal (deserving the same respect and treatment) ; everyone gets one vote at the school-wide weekly meetings. Classroom meetings and school wide-meetings are held each week. Students and teachers discuss and vote on various issues that come up in the daily life at school. Problems are discussed and resolved through the democratic process and social action. All members of the community adults and children irrespective of age are equal in terms of this process.
The curriculum is designed in such a manner as to give each individual student a certain amount of freedom in their daily learning experience as well as the responsibility for this task. Students work together throughout the day in small groups and as a class as well as a community negotiating the give and take every day. All aspects of social learning are embedded in the daily curriculum and learning occurs at many different levels.
