After five years of planning and building, the University of California, San Francisco is happy to announce the opening of Kirkham Child Development Center, located at 10 Kirkham Street on the Parnassus campus. This state-of-the-art center serves 72 children age 24 months to five years of age. Moving-in day took place on January 4, 2010.
The new two-story facility provides a warm, interesting, and nurturing environment where each child can explore and grow at their own pace. Classrooms have “home-like” touches, and have been designed to be welcoming spaces for children and families, as well as providing a comfortable place for teachers to work in. While the center is an inviting space for everyone, it is primarily designed for children. The natural tones through every classroom allow the children’s artwork and materials to be the visual focus.
