In addition to providing all of the New York State required programs there are a variety of opportunities available for Woodlawn children. The experienced teaching staff is actively involved in the Arts in Education and the New York State Mentoring Program. These programs which differ each year allow children and teachers to work with consultants and artists using themes related to the curriculum. Grades two and five participate in the DARE program. After school programs for upper elementary grades vary each year.
The Woodlawn building is in excellent physical condition and is handicap accessible. Its large library allows for large groups and small groups to use the facilities simultaneously. Its gym with a full size basketball court and a climbing wall has a folding door that permits the division of the area. Music and art are taught in rooms specifically designed for these programs. The 250-seat cafeteria also has a stage on one side to allow for assemblies and programs. The project VIEW lab is also located at Woodlawn as well as two fully equipped computer labs for student use. This facility is authorized to administer medications
