Pooh’s Corner is an on-site child care center located in Building # 10 of the Capital District Developmental Disabilities Services Office (O.D. Heck Campus). The center was established primarily to care for the children of Capital District DDSO employees and secondly for children of other New York State employees. Further vacancies are then available to the surrounding community.
Pooh’s Corner was incorporated in 1986 as a not-for-profit business. Policies are developed by a Board of Directors which convenes monthly. The Board is comprised of Capital District DDSO/NYS employees center parents and other interested parties.
Two grass fenced-in play areas and a gymnasium combined with spacious indoor activity areas enable us to offer an assortment of creative opportunities to foster development. This facility is authorized to administer medications.
Voucher and financial assistance programs are accepted through the Department of Social Services.
Both part-time and full-time programs are offered.
Before and afters school care is not available.
Special needs services are offered. We collaborate with Capital District Beginnings to serve preschoolers with disabilities.

Our main goal is to provide safe warm and nurturing care for the children we serve. The Center also strives to maintain a program that provides for all areas of development: physical cognitive linguistic social emotional and aesthetic.
Pooh’s Corner will provide a creative and loving environment where children can explore a variety of interesting materials. Staff will interact with the children in a positive and responsible manner.
The Center recognizes that the major responsibility of raising children rests with parents. The staff will strive to strengthen and enhance this relationship and encourage parent participation in our programming.
