Sunshine School’s philosophy is based upon the understanding that each child is a unique individual with his or her own background, interests, needs and abilities.
We believe that children need to play in order to learn about the world around them. Through play, children develop problem solving skills, verbal expression of thoughts, social skills, self-discipline and independence.
A child’s first group experience away from their home, familiar surroundings and parents is an important milestone. Our staff is sensitive to this separation of the child and parent and strives to build a trusting relationship by providing a safe and supportive atmosphere.
The children’s environment is arranged to be non-competitive, encouraging them to experience, explore and interact with their surroundings, peers and adults.
The children’s developmentally appropriate program is designed to facilitate a positive attitude towards learning and to enhance their self-esteem by providing succesSFul experiences.
