Yerwood Scholars After School Program

Yerwood Extended Day Program serves approximately 100 children each year in grades Kindergartan through 5th. The goal of the program is to improve academic performance and promotion rates and reduce the number of students requiring remedial summer classes. By working closely with each childs elementary school, individual progress is tracked and measured using report cards, Degrees of Reading Power (DRA)/Connecticut Mastery Test (CMT) scores, daily attendance records and behavior reports. This model requires a strong partnership between the Center, the schools, and the parents of the children in the program.
Students in the Extended Day Program rotate through a schedule which includes homework help, reading time, arts & crafts, recreation & fitness, community service, computer technology, financial education, and more.
