Providing Children with a safe, nurturing and stimulating environment for daily development is a primary objective of the Lake County YMCA’s child care programs.
YMCA child care facilities are staffed by caring, committed, and responsible people. Our leaders are positive role models who reach out to each child through individual attention and encouragement.
Children at YMCA child care are taught to appreciate the value of their classmates’ diversity and experiences. Under the guidance of our professionals, children continue to develop both academic and social skills while building positive self-esteem.
The Lake County Family YMCA is committed to providing a safe, loving and caring environment for all children in our child care programs. Through experience and by example, children are shown the rewards of fostering caring relationships with their peers, instructors, and families.
High/Scope is an open-framework instructional model, based on Piaget’s constructionist theory of child development that is blended with the best of traditional teacher experience. Tested and researched for over 30 years, the High/Scope approach is about helping children become independent, responsible, confident and ready for success in school. Children use materials and their imaginations freely in an environment that promotes investigation, decision-making, cooperation and problem solving.
Y-Pals YMCA Child Care and Learning Center offers an educational and nurturing environment for children ages 3-5 years. Our beautiful new facility ensures safety and health while providing opportunities for physical activity, cognitive development and social awareness. Y-Pals has adopted the High Scope curriculum (recognized by the National Association for the Education of Young Children) and also exposes families to the YMCA core values of Caring, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility. Each age group’s physical, intellectual, and social needs are considered when designing weekly activity plans. This allows for lessons to be built around the child’s interest and makes learning more meaningful for each child. In these early learning years, interactive experiences allow relationships to be formed, language and literacy to be explored, and brain development to be stimulated at an optimal time.
