“Our state-of-the-art Westerly facility welcomes infants, toddlers, preschoolers and pre-kindergartners. We are open from 6:30am to 6:00pm, Monday through Friday, to fit the needs of our busy families. The center is conveniently located on Route 1, not far from the beautiful Westerly beaches. Our building includes bright, developmentally appropriate, fun classrooms and large outdoor playgrounds. As you will see our Westerly center is warm, inviting and designed with young children in mind.

We utilize The Children’s Workshop Curriculum, a framework we developed that draws inspiration from Creative Curriculum and the Rhode Island Early Learning Standards which you will see in action in all our centers. Children retain more when they’re having fun so our programs emphasize learning through play. Our curriculum provides a strong foundation for children’s academic success and our teachers provide a warm, nurturing environment in which every child can be successful."

“The Children’s Workshop Curriculum was developed by the company’s top teachers and professionals. It is inspired by many of the principles of The Creative Curriculum and focuses on not only local state early learning standards, but also standards used across the country. Our curriculum emphasizes a child’s ability to choose his or her educational activities in an intentional, play based environment.

Our curriculum focuses on five essential development domains:

Social and Emotional Development Physical Development Artistic Development Cognitive Development Language & Literacy Development

Within each of these domains we define goals as well as performance indicators for each goal. In addition, we include ""Learning in Action,"" which offers specific examples of how our teachers can assure these goals are met within their classrooms.

Our observation and assessment system is closely tied to this framework to ensure that our teachers are consistently working with the children to help them meet their goals and are attentively documenting their successes.

We strongly believe that children learn best when having fun so our curriculum emnphasizes play as the primary goal within all five developmental domains. Children learn vital life skills such as communication, comprehension, self regulation, and positive self awareness as well as essential academic skiills including music, art, life sciences, mathematics, reading and writing – all through PLAY!"
