Redirection will be used for most situations of conflict to relieve anxiety. Children will be encouraged to verbally express their feelings and emotions. Redirection is designed to help the child gain self-control in a positive manner. A calming period is also offered in appropriate situations. The child will be encouraged to rejoin the group when ready.;Teachers will model appropriate language in helping describe feelings and emotions for children who are having a difficult time. They will facilitate communication between children. Teachers will also work with all children in providing choices, informing them of logical consequences, and redirection and consistency when a discipline problem occurs.;An incident report will be provided documenting the occurrence. This form must be signed by teacher, director and the parent, the form will then stay on file.;Our staff will follow these steps in the case of an incident; Comfort will be given to the child; First Aid will be provided in the case of an accident; Aggressor will be redirected to another activity or separated from the situation; Children will be encouraged to use their words to resolve conflict and express emotions; Parent/teacher conference will scheduled if necessary; Child Care Resource staff may observe the classroom for support, suggestions, or information.
