The first few years of life are an extraordinary time that sets the stage for the all the years that follow. Our program for learning, The World at Their Fingertips, creates developmentally appropriate educational environments that empower children to be confident, successful, lifelong learners.
The World is built around eight key concepts:
High expectations for every child Prime Times: Caring and Learning Planned child choice learning environments Emergent curriculum Developmentally appropriate Instruction Making learning visible through documentation and display Full parent partnerships 21st-century technologyThe World curriculum is based on established research and theory in child development and education. The curriculum places a strong emphasis on the development of language, math, science, and social skills and incorporates the key elements that contribute to a childs readiness for school and academic success. Through a variety of learning elements, children make self-directed and guided choices and experience the joys of childhood.
Our philosophy is to promote self-control and to build self esteem in the children in our care. We use positive methods to encourage development of these behaviors. We do not believe in nor do we practice corporal punishment or any other methods that would frighten or humiliate a child. Positive reinforcement, conflict resolution, and redirection are our primary methods of discipline.
