Welcome to Little Bears and Sunflowers Learning Center. We are located 2/10th of a mile east of the Atlantic General Hospital in the Delmarva Animal Hospital (VCA) Building. We offer a safe and well-structured environment. Our space has been specially designed to allow our teachers to give maximum attention to your child’s development, comfort and safety.
We are the only Accredited Maryland State licensed Child Care Learning Center in the Buckingham School District. We are routinely inspected by the Maryland Office of Child Care.
We offer Full-time, Part-time, Before and After School, and Summer Camp programs, which includes a partnership agreement with Head Start and a co-payment agreement with the Maryland Funded Child Care Subsidy program (P.O.C.). Pick up and drop off bus service is provided for Buckingham Elementary, Berlin Intermediate School, and Head Start. We use two Maryland State Department of Education approved curriculums: High Reach Learning and Creative Curriculum. Circle time, reading, craft projects, outdoor activities, breakfast, lunch, and afternoon snack are provided daily. Field trips are also part of our educational program. Spanish, Japenesse, and Sign Language is incorporated in our daily routine. We maintain a monthly journal, stations chart, and a parent communication log.

Our classrooms are divided into Learning Centers that encourage the children to explore different hands on, self directed activities. Activities are planned by qualified competent staff who are Early Childhood Professionals. We create a caring and nurturing atmosphere to foster each child’s creativity and positive self-image. We also provide a positive and stimulating environment that teaches children life skills and enhances their self esteem. Children are encouraged to ask questions, investigate, explore, and make choices. Housekeeping, Science, Math/Manipulative, Writing, Art, Library, Listening, and Blocks Centers are designed to promote your childs Social and Cognitive Skills through self directed activities. Our classrooms are print rich to promote early reading skills. Each activity is designed to enhance the development of Fine and/or Gross Motor Skills. Dish TV is also available to allow for viewing of educational programming to enhance our curriculum. Our monthly newsletter and calendar keep parents informed of our activities, as well as community happenings. The Berlin Library conducts Story Time one day a week at our Center in the Fall and Winter. We offer an exercise program one day a week that is run by a licensed Karate instructor. We also offer music class run by a licensed music instructor.
We also offer a 4 year old Educational Curriculum Program geared to give your child a good foundation for school. From 9:00 am. to 11:30 am Monday thru Friday.
