Tot’s Place Child Development Center was established in 1987 for the dual purpose of providing an educational setting for young children and for Ferris State University students to gain valuable experience working with young children in an educational setting. Tot’s Place Child Development Center provides quality child care services to families with children ages 1 month through 12 years of age. Child care services are available to Ferris State University students faculty and staff and community members.

Tot’s Place offers a program which has been accredited through the National Association of the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). Teachers with professional credentials in the Early Childhood field are responsible for planning developmentally appropriate activities for children as well as supervising University students completing educational course requirements. The Center is equipped with observation rooms and technical equipment to assist University students with their course requirements. The observation rooms also provide parents the opportunity to observe their children in the classroom environment. Tot’s Place and Northeast Michigan Community Service Agency (NEMCSA) have held a partnership to provide Head Start programs within the center since 1997.
