Special Sprouts has been supporting families of children (three to five) with special needs for 20 years. Our classrooms provide a language enriched program with clinical services to facilitate progress in all areas of child development. Special Sprouts was founded in 1988. Our founder Sue Weinstein worked as the head teacher in Beans Sprouts from opening day until June 1989. Since then Sue has moved on to become the Executive Director of Special Sprouts.
Caryn Klein-Cardieri joined the Special Sprouts family in September of 1985. Caryn started as a head teacher in Beansprouts and has for the past several years been our Educational Director helping make Special Sprouts the curriculum-rich activity-filled program it is today. Shani Schick is a seasoned special educator and has developed an excellent working relationship with the District Administrators from the Department of Education. She coordinates all Special Education Itinerate Teacher Services (SEIT) and ensures that all special education files are kept current.
Special Sprouts uses a multidisciplinary approach where outstanding teachers and therapists provide a caring supportive environment that enable our children to flourish. Our website is designed to acquaint you with our preschool program. Please read it carefully. Our program consists of:

A caring qualified staff trained and experienced to work with young children. Policies and procedures enabling us to provide a safe well-organized program.Special Sprouts Therapeutic Nursery School is licensed not for profit by the New York State Department of Education and under contract with the New York City Department of Education.
