In 1997 the concept of Universal Pre-Kindergarten was brought to New York State . It was created to provide all 4 year olds with the opportunity to attend Pre-K at absolutely no cost to the children’s families. Here at Star America we have also been educating Pre-K children since 1997 (only for Queens and Brooklyn). Our UPK Universal Pre-Kindergarten program focuses on socialization learning through play and self-exploration. Children do so by engaging in hands-on activities participating in a variety of learning centers utilizing concrete materials and manipulatives and taking trips to different locations within the community.
