Peabody Terrace Children’s Center is committed to providing high quality individualized child care to an internationally diverse group. Emphasis is placed on the development of the whole child. Curriculum is designed to promote creative expression, imaginative play, and positive social development for children of all ages.
PTCC has embraced the Reggio Emilia approach to executing our mission. Reggio Emilia is a place in Italy, where this approach to early childhood education was born. The Reggio Emilia philosophy is based on the principles of respect, responsibility, and community. Children learn these principles through exploration and discovery in a supportive and enriching environment. The Reggio Emilia approach focuses on the natural development of children and their relationship with their environment. Parents are considered partners, collaborators and advocates for their children.

In all of the classrooms, curriculum is developed around the children’s ideas and interests on an individual level as well as a group. The staff at PTCC understands the importance of parent communication and put a great deal of energy into developing a positive relationship with each family, which provides a basis for constructive dialogue. Written accounts of childrens experiences in each classroom, as well as home, are regularly exchanged with parents and teachers to ensure a rich continuity of care.
Our program offers children a variety of stimulating experiences, including: art, music, movement, yoga, science demonstrations, and sometimes animal shows. Two snacks are provided daily by the Center.
