Dr. Maria Montessori was one of the great pioneers in the study of child development, and her studies resulted in the educational philosophy that we follow here. She was the first woman to receive a medical degree in Italy, graduating from the University of Rome Medical School in 1896. Early in the twentieth century she began working with a group of children in a slum area of Rome. She called her school a Children’s House and began her innovative program with the belief that young children learn best in a homelike setting with materials that are hands-on and visually appealing. Her accomplishments with these children were immediate and earned her world wide acclaim. Maria Montessori believed that learning begins at birth and that the early years, being the most formative, provide the greatest window of opportunity for education.

We believe that in a clean and attractive setting, each child can develop integrity and a love of learning. A rich curriculum promotes a knowledge of the world and encourages the development of skills necessary for intellectual growth. Each teacher will provide a learning environment that is appropriate to the developmental stages of the children and will direct a class where each child is seen as a person with individual needs and concerns.
We also want to help parents in the difficult job of raising children by sharing our knowledge and experience. Consistency between school and home is important, and we are prepared to work with you to achieve this.
