The teaching approach used at Preschool Place is based on a philosophy of allowing children to learn at their own pace. Lessons are presented using several teaching techniques to reach children with different learning styles. (Example: visual, tactile, systematic, imaginative, interactive and flexible) Lessons and activities are designed to promote sociability, creativity, self-esteem, increased attention span and safety. The curriculum follows themes each week exposing the students to shapes colors, letters and numbers in an age appropriate manner. Reading to the students is an important part of each class. Physical fitness is promoted by utilizing large motor equipment and our outdoor playground. A nutritious snack and beverage will be served daily.
Each child’s physical development will be encouraged through large muscle activities in our classroom and outdoors. Running, playing and organized physical fitness will help them get their necessary exercise. Emotional development will also be encouraged be interactive games that require cooperation and following rules.
Socialization will be promoted by encouraging children to interact with different students each day. Children will be paired during activities with other students so they become familiar with each student in their class. This gives them an opportunity to build social skills while making new friends.
Self-esteem is built through the child’s accomplishments each day and through a variety of special themes that will let each child know they are unique, loveable and wonderful individuals.
