Early Adventures is a collaborative program offered by the Chesapeake Public Schools System and the YMCA of South Hampton Roads. The program is a free program funded by the Virginia Preschool Initiative Act for the purpose of serving those children who are continuously exposed to high-risk factors and situations that are likely to have an adverse impact on their social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development. Kindergarten readiness is the thrust.

Early Adventures’ primary goal is to get the child “ready to learn.” We accomplish this through a safe developmentally-appropriate learning environment that will allow the child to grow physically, socially, emotionally and intellectually. Our goals are:
