Children who attend Head Start participate in a variety of educational activities along with receiving medical and dental care and nutritious meals and snacks. The CDI Head Start Program offers center-based half-day or full day programs at select sites. All centers operate from September through May with hours that vary.

Head Start provides children with activities and experiences to foster their development, to help them grow socially, emotionally, intellectually and physically. Head Start children socialize with others, gain educational skills, solve problems, and have experiences which help them become self-confident. The children also improve their listening and speaking skills. Head Start helps transition children from home to Head Start and from Head Start to kindergarten.
