Erie Neighborhood House is a leader in finding solutions to the pressing need for affordable, high-quality child care for low-income families in the Chicago metropolitan area. Serving over 400 children annually through nationally accredited and state subsidized care, Erie House is a vital resource for working parents earning less than 50 percent of the median income in Illinois.
Erie provides bilingual/bicultural, developmentally appropriate care for more than 400 children annually from six weeks to 5 years old through the Family Child Care Homes network (6 weeks to 5 years old), the Preschool Program including Head Start and State Pre-Kindergarten at Risk (2 to 5 years old). Erie House is accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children.
Erie House uses the developmentally appropriate practices approach and exercises a model of continuous improvement for childrens specific needs and gifts, as well as staffs professional development. Children’s physical, social, emotional and cognitive growth is developed through activities designed to foster language development, literacy, creativity, independence, and school readiness.
