North Avenue Day Nursery

North Avenue Day Nursery is committed to providing high quality childcare and
educational programs primarily to the children of working families who are eligible
for Federal and State subsidized care. The nurserys programs are designed for
children from infancy through the age of 12 years and aim to support the physical,
social, emotional and cognitive development of every child within the context of
family and cultural community. Grounded in current theories of child development
and education, the nursery and childcare homes provide safe, trusting and caring
environments in which children develop the fundamental ABCs of autonomy,
belonging, and competency necessary for a successful life.

A century ago, North Avenue Day Nursery opened its doors to provide childcare services for immigrant families working in factories along Milwaukee Avenue. Today, the Nursery continues this vital commitment through comprehensive, high quality educational and childcare services for low-income families in Chicagos West Town neighborhood and surrounding communities.
Accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). North Avenue Day Nursery is a non-profit organization comprised of (1) Preschool Day Care, (2) School-Age Day Care, and (3) Day Care Homes.
The importance of early education to the developmental success of our children is paramount. Meeting this need for excellent childcare programs takes significant commitment and financial resources. Escalating operating expenses coupled with stagnant federal and state funding are just a few of the hurdles the Nursery faces.
