At Windsong Montessori School we are dedicated to provding a first class education the way Dr. Maria Montessori showed the world it could be done. Her educational philosophy which is individualized for each child is truly superior to the traditional approach.

It is rare for two children the same age to have the exact same skills across all fields of study. The traditional approach tries to force a whole class into that same mold. With such a one size fits all approach it is inevitable that the advanced students will be bored out of their minds. Bored geniuses Children who are struggling are doomed to an agony of being perpetually in over their heads. The traditional approach whether in a public or private school never gives those children the time they need to build foundational concepts. Instead they are rushed ahead and may suffer for a lifetime as a result.

Children in Montessori schools are able to learn advanced ideas by starting with concrete objects. By starting with perceptual information childen are able to form meaningful concepts. When are children look at a math problem they really understand what it means because they have physically made the numbers with beads or counters. The traditional appraoch sticks to moving numbers around on paper. Traditionally taught students eventually learn how to get the right answer but they rarely achive the rich understanding that Montessori students do.

We are dedicated to providing the best Montessori experience that can be found in DFW. We think Dr. Montessori laid out a beautiful framework and we stick to it completely. Sadly because the name Montessori was never copyrighted or trademarked anyone can call anything Montessori. It takes a little more investigation to find out if a school is really guided by the Montessori method or if they just give it lip service. In the short run many schools find it easier to slap the “Montessori” name onto their signs without going to all the effort of doing it right.
