We believe that children grow best in a happy, relaxed atmosphere that is an extension of the home environment. We do not take the place of the home; rather, we involve families and parents in our programs in an effort to provide children with a sense of connectedness between home and school. There is opportunity for parent involvement in the preschool classes as volunteers in the classroom, on field trips, and in family activities.
Monthly newsletters are sent home to inform parents of what is happening in the center. We communicate closely with parents through informal and formal conferences. Parents are considered to be an important part of our program.
Our 2-year-old class offers a loving, home-style atmosphere where young children begin to learn social skills such as sharing, cooperation, taking turns, and communicating with others. They are also introduced to a variety of concepts through units of study.
Our 3-year-old class continues to work on the skills introduced in the 2s. Units of study and learning centers are planned to meet the needs of the maturing 3 year old.
Our 4-year-old class gives a good foundation for kindergarten. Units of study and learning centers continue and attention is given to the sounds of the alphabet and numbers.
We are a play-based preschool. Our curriculum and assesment is guided by the Creative Curriculum and includes Bible stories, center time, blocks, dramatic play, manipulatives, science, creative art and library, outside play, group time (songs, stories, finger plays, rhythm and movement, study related activities).
