Welcome to Parzival Shield! Our school is a haven in the city for children ages 3-6. We were established as a Waldorf school in Denver in 1983, and have since been providing a safe, nurturing, play based environment wherein the wisdom of childhood can unfold. We are located in the vicinity of Observatory Park in a safe, quiet, well-established neighborhood.
Our building was built specifically to be a Waldorf early childhood setting with a round classroom and many windows through which the children may peep and the sun can shine in. The room surrounds the children with beauty, and natural toys and materials provide stimulus for imagination. The day is well-ordered and rhythmical so that artistic, social, structured, and free play activities are all given their due. We sit down for a wholesome, organic snack each day and enjoy each others company!
Our grounds are generous in size with mature trees growing all around the perimeter. This provides the children with a feeling of being in the woods and allows them daily access to nature. There is plenty of room for the children to spread out and enjoy outdoor play building in the woodpile, digging and planting in the garden, getting to know the worms and roly-polys and Squirrel Nutkin, making campsites in the woods, playing imaginative games among the plants and flowers, and of course, swinging, sliding and riding trikes.
Faculty and staff are committed to creating one of the best preschools in Denver. Through our rich and varied program, children grow, develop, and gain the strength and confidence needed to step into the wider world. Parzival Shield is truly a childs garden where the kingdom of childhood is deeply honored with love and intelligence.
Parzival Shield is a full member of the Waldorf Early Childhood Association of North America (WECAN), and the International Association of Waldorf Kindergartens, providing the finest in alternative education.

The aim of our school is to develop in students those capacities that will help them achieve their full potential in all aspects of their lives. This means educating the whole child physically, emotionally and intellectually. We believe it is the healthy, harmonious development of the head, heart and hands that marks a truly educated person; one who is able to think creatively, make sound judgments and act with conviction.
Knowledge is built upon a natural sequence in the Waldorf Schools. Rudolf Steiner formulated the original philosophy and pedagogy out of which present day Waldorf schools still develop. We focus on themes that appeal to the young child at his or her particular stage of development, always planting seeds for later development.
