Over 100 years ago Dr. Maria Montessori developed a unique theory of education. She recognized that when a child is self motivated the learning process comes easily and naturally. All the teacher must do is prepare the environment with the right objects at the right time and offer the proper mental stimulation and guidance.
There are three characteristics unique to the Montessori method they are: recognition that each child is different and must be treated individually that children absorb knowledge best when the impulse to learn comes from their own minds and thirdly that children should eagerly desire to work at a project in turn teaching themselves.
