Happy Days Preschool

Happy Days Preschool is founded on the strong belief in the development of the whole child. This means we support the development of a child in their cognitive, physical, social, and emotional growth. The classroom activities and routine encourage positive growth. Some of our routine activities are:

Open Play: Each day there is open play time. This is important to a young childs development of social skills. Children learn how to interact with their peers and to problem solve when conflicts arise. Skills such as sharing and taking turns are taught and encouraged.

Large Muscle Time: There is large muscle time either in the large muscle room, in the big gym, or on the playground. This part of the day encourages muscle strengthening and coordination. Many movement games are used to make this a fun experience.

Fine Motor Time: Fine motor growth is developed through projects and games around the room. Working with play dough and other tactile materials helps to strengthen these muscles so that children are ready to write letters and their names. Many of the creative projects completed during class provide meaningful ways to strengthen fine motor skills.

Academic Activities: Throughout the day cognitive skills are presented through play, music, finger play, and games. The four-year old class emphasizes the academic skills needed to prepare a child for the Kindergarten setting.

Book and Reading Time: We believe that books open the window to creativity, learning, and emotional understanding. Sometimes we read to the class and other times the children have time to look quietly at books. Our classroom has a nice library of books for children to explore.

Circle Time: Circle time is a group activity where children learn to listen and participate as a large group.

Snack Time: Snack time is a nice way to encourage manners and appropriate social skills while eating. We encourage healthy snacks and good eating habits.

Young children love being together and growing together! Happy Days provides a safe and positive environment where children can explore their world and can be guided gently towards positive choices.
