Safe Harbor

Located in Gig Harbor and serving Port Orchard and the Key Peninsula, Safe Harbor opened its doors in 2000 to offer a new alternative to the traditional daycare center. Our small, licensed center is based on a home-style model offering Gig Harbor families a safe and unique experience in early childhood personalized care.

Safe Harbors family care objective is to fill your shoes. Your childs early developmental years are a critical formative period. Childhood care and daily childcare providers should pick up where you leave off, furthering strengthening developmental skills and safely nurturing your little one while you are away. Our low adult-to-child ratio allows us to personalize our daycare center programming to a select few children per caregiver, thereby fostering a family atmosphere, stimulating peer to peer interaction, and most important, maintaining the daily consistency of a family schedule that your child has already grown accustomed to.

Safe Harbor Child Care Center was founded by Molly OBrien, mother of 3 children and long-time teacher in the Peninsula School District. A native of North Tacoma, as Molly and her husband PJ began forming their family they longed for an alternative to the cookie-cutter, impersonal daycare centers that were unfortunately all too common. Recognizing the importance of a safe and enriching environment for her children while away from them during work hours, Molly and PJ embarked on creating their own home style daycare center emphasizing early developmental skills that mimicked a family structure thereby facilitating the healthy development of their own children and those at the center.
