Learning should be enjoyable. When thinking of young children and their first experiences in “formal” education, topics should be presented in such a way that they mesh with the child’s natural progression of learning about life. Children have been learning since the first day of life. If allowed, they will want to continue to their knowledge. It is the responsibility of the teacher to direct these curiosities and build on abilities and experiences. Since young children are self-centered, another teacher responsibility is to encourage sharing and cooperation.
