PRESCHOOL-KINDERGARTEN
In this classroom we use the All About Preschoolers curriculum. The AAP curriculum is grounded in the Early Childhood Environment Rating Scale which we are required to pass with high scores as a participant in the Keystone Stars. AAP also meets all the PA Early Learning Standards.
All About Preschoolers is a carefully designed curriculum program for preschool classrooms where children are accepted for what they can do at the time when they can do it and are moved through the prerequisites for abstract learning (academics) that will come when each is old enough and ready to efficiently learn what is required with little failure.
Based on years of research the All About Preschoolers curriculum is based on many years of developmental research and findings that show that children are complete developing beings who learn in a variety of ways and do best when they have opportunities that are engaging and challenging but not frustrating which plenty of learning through enriched play with teachers who use many approaches to guide and speed their learning.
SCHOOL AGE
In this classroom we use the Project Approach. This method finds a topic that the children are interested in and explores as much or as little as it interests the children. Topics are changed with the childrens interests and as often as needed. This method promotes the children to have direct ownership in what they are learning. This classroom is assessed using the School Age Environment Rating Scale which we are required to pass with high scores as a participant in the Keystone Stars and meets the PA Learning Standards.
