Kiddie Kompany Day Care Center

The Kiddie Kompany was established in 1979. We began with 21 children and have grown to a moderate enrollment of 75 children. The center is owned and operated by Paula J Propst, Director. Ms. Propst was educated at VCU and Mary Baldwin College. Her credentials and area of education is in art and child psychology. Ms. Propst has over thirty years of experience working with all types of children. Kiddie Kompany serves typically developing children as well as those children that have developmental delays. Our lead staff are very experienced and have worked at Kiddie Kompany from 15 to 26 years. Our ratios surpass the minimum standards from licensing to provide care and support for our children.

Programming

The centers program is centered around lots of fun and small group learning. We support lots of outdoor activities to balance the growth of minds with active bodies. Our preschoolers learn emotionally, cognitively and socially. The even balance of encouraging growth in all these areas, gives our rising kindergartners lots of readiness and confidence.

The school-agers are encouraged to participate, play and interact with the group activities such as kick ball, football, and dodge ball. Our summer fitness activities include walking/jogging at the track, swimming, bowling, and fun on field trips. We also participate in the Henrico Co. Summer Reading Program each summer with emphasis on the accelerated reader library book lists in each school.

Swimming

The Kiddie Kompany has a great outdoor swimming pool that promotes the Learn to Swim Program through the American Red Cross. Ms. Paula has been a Volunteer Water Safety Instructor with the American Red Cross for over twenty years. We work with the children enrolled here to begin at the water adjustment level. Many children work in the higher levels of swimming to the pre-life guard swim skills of level six. We have a great safety record for over twenty years, with no injuries during any swim activity. The pool offers children lots of fun, skill building and swimming each day in the summer. Many of our children go on to swim on swim teams as a result of the learning from our pool.

Staff Experience

Ms. Paula is a volunteer first aid and CPR instructor for the American Red Cross. Our lead staff all hold certifications in first aid as well as CPR. Ms. Paula and two other lead staff are certified in Medication Administration Training required for centers as of June of 2007. All staff working in child care must pass rigorous background and reference checks.
