Museum Kids Academy (MKA) is conveniently located in Houston’s Museum District. We operate in an historical home in the heart of the Museum district. Built in 1942, we are just minutes away from the Children’s Museum and other museum locations.

Museum Kids believes in the education of the whole child. The Museum Kids Academy child is nurtured in intellectual, social, emotional, and physical growth. The parents, the essential educators, work in partnership with our staff and teachers to accomplish this goal. We hope to empower our students with the belief that they can successfully move forward in their academics and life.

To challenge and stimulate young minds in a safe and healthy home-like environment.
We strive to be:
A place where students enjoy learning
A place where children are encouraged to be lifelong learners and problem solvers through the integration of technology, math, science, language arts, music, art, and physical education.
A place where students are encouraged to perform good deeds by serving others through the gift of giving.
A place in which cultural awareness is fostered and our children are encouraged to accept and respect one’s differences in a warm and caring environment.

Early childhood is a special time for children and parents to experience the joy and wonder of discovery. This is a time of exploration in an environment of trust. Each age group follows a lesson plan that cultivates brain development equipping the children with the necessary tools to interpret and express themselves proficiently yielding life-long learners and productive citizens. Our goal and objective is to meet each area of development with meaningful materials that support each child’s development and learning through:
1. Fine and Gross Motor Skills
2. Social-Emotional Skills
3. Communication Skills (Written and Verbal)
4. Cognitive Skills
HIGHSCOPE CURRICULUM

Our curriculum is based on the HighScope teaching method, which has a strong focus on skills that the child needs to build. Student needs are met through warm interactions with teachers, who provide help and guidance with daily homework, reading, studying, and special projects. They work with children one-on-one or in small groups to complete their school assignments. Teachers also provide enrichment activities and time for independent learning to help children build on what they already know.
We Partner with Parents
Museum Kids Academy believes is forming a partnership with our parents in the task of educating the children. Parental involvement is very important; therefore we join forces with you in the process of maintaining the vision by challenging and stimulating each child in order to reach his or her full potential.
Monitoring Childrens’ Progress
Within the first two weeks of entering our program, an assessment is given and we meet briefly with the parent(s) to discuss the results. We will continue to track each child’s progress throughout the year. At the end of the school year (based upon the HISD school schedule), parent/teacher conferences will be conducted to discuss your child’s progress. During the summer Museum Kids Academy will utilize a different curriculum.
