Preschool in Huntington Beach, CA 92649
North Huntington Beach Community Nursery School is a parent-participation Preschool, part of the National Council of Parent Participation Preschools. Parent-participation Preschools, sometimes called co-ops, are unique early childhood learning environments that give parents a chance to be involved in their childs first school experience and become part of a diverse community of families.
The advantages of a parent-participation Preschool are many. Parents and teachers develop closer relationships when parents work regularly in the classroom. Parents also value the educational opportunities at general and class meetings, as well as the peer support and social activities available in a co-op community.

Our philosophy rests on
1. The respect of children as competent and capable people 2. The beauty and need for community in the life of families 3. The importance of play to a childs social, physical and intellectual developmentOur curriculum, which is essentially child directed and play based, is supported by theories of learning that center on experience and discovery. Our yard is set for adventure with abundant space, lots of sand and water, changing gardens, and trees to climb. We even host a natural habitat for monarch butterflies!
At NHBCNS, children have daily opportunities to build, create, solve problems, get messy, and take risks—all in an environment that is caring, interesting, aesthetic, and filled with wonder. Our program seeks inspiration from many sources including Waldorf, Reggio Emilia, and Pacific Oaks.
As a parent-participation school, we involve parents in almost every aspect of running the school. From Board membership to housekeeping and maintenance, from working in the classroom to working in the garden, parents are essential to the succesSFul operation of this school.
