Christ Early Learning Center

The childcare opened in 1995 as one of the fastest growing ministries of Christ United Methodist Church. The demand for high quality childcare has kept the rooms full of creative and developing children.

Our emphasis through the years has been to continue providing the best quality childcare for the children of our community. The program takes care of the child mentally, physically, spiritually, and emotionally while parents are away. They are challenged to learn and grow so that they are ready for kindergarten.

The Center has a low child / teacher ratio to allow loving attention for each child. Each classroom has age-appropriate toys, puzzles, books and games to help stimulate learning. The teachers have creative curriculum to help the children with colors, shapes, numbers, writing skills, and cutting with scissors.

CELC is state license exempt due to religious affiliation. The facility is inspected annually by the State of Missouri / Fire Marshall / Sanitation Department and bi-annually by the City of Independence Sanitation and Immunizations. The Directors strive to maintain a clean and sanitary facility. The classrooms are sprayed with bleach water and Lysol each evening. Toys are washed each week or as needed for prevention of illness.
The preschool was started in Mrs. Givens home in Independence 1942 for children of members of Watson Memorial Methodist Church. After several years she out grew her home. The preschool went into the church as a ministry. The church merged and became Christ United Methodist Church. The demand for high quality educational preschool has kept this program one of the oldest and best in the Independence area.
