Preschool in Indianapolis, IN 46235
The MSD of Lawrence Township a long time innovative leader in early childhood education opened four regionally located Early Learning Centers in August of 2006. Every aspect of the district’s four Early Learning Centers – from the buildings themselves to the programs and curriculum – has been purposefully designed by the highly qualified staff according to “best practice” research in early learning. The research is clear: the early years are the most critical in determining a child’s future academic and life success. The MSD of Lawrence Township continues to make early learning a priority and a commitment in accomplishing its mission of “empowering all students to contribute and succeed as self-directed life-long learners.”

The preschool is based on the belief that all children are naturally curious
and eager to learn. We believe children should be respected and valued for
the knowledge they already possess. The role of the teacher is to facilitate
pose questions and create learning experiences designed to support the
inquisitive nature of each child scaffolding their learning in authentic ways.
The Indiana Preschool Foundations provide a framework for a natural and
seamless transition to kindergarten. The Work Sampling System is used to
guide assessments with children three through the year prior to
Kindergarten. These reports are sent home with families three times a year.
The seven domains addressed in the work sampling include: Personal and
Social Development Language and Literacy Mathematical Thinking
Scientific Thinking Social Studies the Arts and Physical Development. Our
Infants through three years of age will each have a learning plan developed
to meet their individual needs. These plans will be reviewed with familys
continually throughout this time of rapid growth.
