Throughout these early years we believe one of the most important factors in a child’s development is his or her creative play activities.
Exploration + Imitation + Action + Interaction + Language = Creative Play
Arrival Time in the Gym – This is a time when the children are able to use gross motor skills to climb run ride bikes jump skip etc… There are also areas for fine motor skills to build with blocks puzzles and play with cars and trucks.
Good Morning Time – This time is in the classroom where the entire class sits in a group. We have the chance to sing hear a story show and tell sing or dance to a movement activity before discussing the plan for the day.
Group Time – The children are divided into smaller groups at this time and will each have an opportunity to visit three of the following areas:
1. Playroom – free play or a structured game. Every month the playroom
changes to offer a variety of things to do. Some of which may be:
a. Blocks/Workshop Area
b. Activity Table
c. Listening Center
d. Writing Center
e. Lego Table
f. Puppet Theater
g. Grocery Store
h. Housekeeping
2. Art Room – children are introduced to various art projects such as:
painting coloring glueing cutting play dough games puzzles etc.
3. Gym Area – Children will have an opportunity to use gross motor skills
in a variety of activities set in the gym area.
4. Academic – children will have time to practice writing letters numbers
and using some drawing skills. We will also have math activities such as
sorting measuring adding subtracting charting graphing etc.
