First Step Learning Centers are located in Tewksbury, Union, Readington and Clinton Townships, New Jersey. We are open Monday through Friday, twelve months a year. We offer a variety of learning environments from infants through full day Kindergarten and after school wraparound.
Parents who choose First Step for their child’s first school experience do so with the knowledge that they are placing their children in an atmosphere with certified, experienced teachers who provide emotional, social, cognitive and physical developmentally-appropriate activities in a caring and safe environment.

Seeking to fill the void for early childhood education in Hunterdon County, owners Jill Leary and Lynne Baka opened the flagship First Step Learning Center in Lebanon. Having spent years as educators, Jill and Lynne were motivated by the belief that each childs individual learning style should be met foremost. Enhanced by small class size and a hands-on approach to learning using concrete objects and manipulatives, children at First Step Learning Centers are encouraged to discover and explore through play. This approach to education helps to ensure a lifelong love of learning that supports each child as they grow into adulthood.
The proof of success is not only evident from the bright and inquisitive graduates of First Steps programs, but in the expansion and growth from the first Lebanon school to include locations in Fairmount, Jutland, Whitehouse Station and Clinton (opening 2010.) Throughout the years, Jill and Lynne have never lost sight of their initial objective and continue to be actively involved and available to every child, in every school, every day.
