YWCA Child Development Center of Massillon

The YWCA’s childcares are a play-based model which early childhood research
supports and demonstrates that children learn best by hands-on interaction with their environment. General Goals of the play-based model are: learning to trust gaining independence becoming self-governing developing a healthy
selfimage developing self-control learning social skills increasing physical
skills and the cognitive processes which include language and lastly the
freedom to creatively express oneself through a variety of methods and media.
The curriculum is developmentally appropriate to each specific age group:
infant toddler and preschool.
