First United Methodist Church Day School is an outreach ministry to children parents and families of the Rio Grande Valley. The purpose of FUMC Day School is to provide children a safe and loving environment in which to nurture spiritual emotional social intellectual and physical growth through developmentally appropriate and creative activites. We also strive to serve parents by providing opportunities for education and fellowship. We teach our children through play and give them the pre-learning skills necessary for later years.

At FUMC Day School we believe in child-centered play based learning which allows children to learn at their own individual pace through the natural process of play. Incorporated throughout the week is a theme-of-the-week curriculum. Weekly activities focus on gross and fine motor skills social interaction and creative expression. During their four hour day (9:30 a.m. to
1:30 p.m.) children have an opportunity to play and interact with others their age while fostering independence curiosity and problem solving skills. They also express themselves through art and music activities. Furthermore throughout the day the teachers provide a safe secure and loving environment for our students. Children who are two years and older also attend chapel once a week where they sing pray and listen to Bible stories. We welcome parents to call the office during school hours to check on their childs progress. (Office hours are from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.)
