Self Development Preschool

Self Development Preschool (SDP) is a privately run school founded in 1988. SDP offers year-round services for 2 to 5-year-olds, a before and after school age program, and a summer day camp for children ages 2 through 12 years. SDP students are exceptionally prepared for kindergarten usually one year ahead of their classmates from other preschools.

At SDP, children engage in developmentally appropriate activities designed specifically to meet their needs. Caring and qualified teachers provide a nurturing and loving environment in which children grow socially, emotionally and intellectually. The curriculum provides the foundation for achieving academic goals later in their schooling.

The preschool uses an integrated thematic approach to learning. Each month has a different theme. To provide interest and help children build connections, classroom dcor is changed to reflect each theme. In August, students explore the World of Literature through the Works of Eric Carle and Dr. Suess. In September, children will become paleontologist as they learn about the fascinating World of Dinosaurs. Digging for fossils and creating paper mache dinosaur eggs will be among the many exciting activities. Fire Safety Awareness is a popular theme in October. SDP engages children in this very important safety lesson by hosting a special visit from Firefighter Mike.

Many SDP students go on to attend Self Development Charter School (SDPS) through eighth grade. SDPS was also founded by Mrs. Majeed, and its one of the top-ranked charter schools in the state.
