Pre-Kindergarten at Providence Academy sets a firm foundation for the exciting challenges that lie just ahead for our young students. A few important elements combine to create this foundation: a bright, child-centered environment, professional and caring teachers dedicated to providing the best education for their students, carefully planned lessons that help young minds to grow to their fullest potential, and an emphasis on the wonder of Gods beautiful creation.
The Providence Pre-Kindergarten curriculum is based upon an understanding of how young children learn and develop. The pace of the day is calm. Activities are organized around developing group and social skills with ample opportunity for students to learn through play. Academic learning is built into daily lessons and play activities. Reading and math skills are developed through direct teacher instruction, with a focus on basic phonetics and number sense. Music, Spanish, and Physical Education are offered at times throughout the week.
Pre-K students at Providence learn to love God and neighbor, to see good in the world. It is our goal to assist parents in nurturing their childrens budding faith, and to help the children build important social and academic skills that carry them forward, prepared for kindergarten and the challenges beyond.
