Welcome to Jamesburg Montessori Childrens House! Thank you sincerely for your interest in our program. Founded on the teachings of Dr. Maria Montessori, Jamesburg Montessori Childrens House seeks to find the potential in each child through individualized learning experiences. The Montessori Method is based on the idea that each child learns at an individual pace. If a child is ready to read, we will take them on that journey, no matter his or her age. Lessons in practical life, cultural awareness, science, mathematics, and language seek to develop a child that will be independent and develop a positive view of learning. A mixed-age classroom allows younger children to benefit from their older peers experiences and knowledge, and older children to benefit from the leadership roles they undertake in teaching younger children the ways of the classroom. Our teachers will allow each child to advance to his or her fullest potential.
We offer programs for children ages 2.5 to 6 years in preschool, kindergarten, summer, and day care. Our teachers and assistants have years of experience in educating young minds. While our teachers have training in the Montessori Method, they are all traditionally trained as well. Therefore, our children are offered the benefits of a structured classroom, where they engage in circle activities, are expected to wait their turns, and show respect of others and their environments. The benefits of this mixed-method teaching are innumerable to our children. Children moving on to a traditional classroom for elementary and secondary schools will have all the tools necessary to succeed, while still enjoying all of the benefits of the Montessori Method.
At Jamesburg Montessori Childrens House, we are dedicated to your children. If you would like more information concerning our programs and how your child can become one of our great successes, stop by our school or give us a call. We look forward to the opportunity to educate your child not only in ABCs and 1-2-3s, but in how to reach the fullest of his or her potential as a developing mind.

The Montessori Method is an educational philosophy developed by Dr. Maria Montessori in the early 1900?s through extensive trial and error experiments with her own students and patients. Maria Montessori cultivated a home like environment for her students and patients because she discovered they learned best when they felt safe and comfortable. Not only did Maria expect her students to learn academics but also to develop appropriate life skills for them to funtion in society. By forming these skills, students were also enabled to build their self-esteem as they learned to teach themselves. These advancements in education have a significant impact on Montessori classrooms today.
Specific Montessori goals include the development of positive attitude, self-confidence, concentration, curiosity, initiative, persistence, security and sense of order. Students acquire a high sense of intrinsic motivation, the most effective form of motivation, and push themselves to learn because they want to. Each childs unique growth rate and learning differences are praised, encouraged, and celebrated in an environment that provides stability and consistancy as each student works to their fullest extent.
The Montessori Method is unique in its ability to embrace the whole child and its needs, the prepared environment, purposeful materials, and the role of the teacher. Because the student virtually acts as their own teacher and motivator, the offical classroom teacher has the significant role as facilitator of learning experiences and role model as they demonstate the respect and responsibility necessary to function in the real world. They are also expected to be keen observers of each student and their work in the classroom.
