Washington Elementary Head Start Madison Avenue

Washington Elementary is proud to have been the first school in the Montebello Unified School District located in the heart of Montebello and continues to be a thriving educational institution. Kindergarten through third grade has an average class size of 19 students per teacher and grade four has 33 students per teacher. In addition, our student population also includes a Highly Gifted multi-level classroom and two Special Day classes. Our site also includes four Head Start classes, English as a Second Language Classes for adults and Adult Parenting classes. Our staff consists of the following:

• 47 K-4 grade teachers,
• 7 support staff to assist students that have special needs,
• 17 instructional assistants that provide additional help to students,
• 10 clerical and custodial staff implement procedures that maintain a well-run school environment and
• 2 administrators provide support and leadership to the Washington team.

Washington Elementary is proud to have ninety five percent of the certificated staff are deemed Highly Qualified by the No Child Left Behind Standards. All our instructional assistants are also Highly Qualified as per NCLB standards. The remaining of the staff is working toward qualification.
