The purpose of our kindergarten is to help bridge the gap between home and school.
Through a relaxed happy and nurturing environment children can become aware of
the world around them experience the excitement of discovery and realize success
in their beginning academic lives.
The maximum ratio of student to teacher per class is 20 to 1 in Kindergarten through Grade 5
and 18 to 1 in preschool. Students in PreK4 through 5th grade study with a specific teacher
in a self-contained classroom. In addition to the classroom teacher students receive instruction
from specialists in Spanish art physical education and Music class.
Aides are assigned to preschool classes.
Students in the pre-kindergarten classes (K-4) utilize their time in active learning.
Academic skills are presented through our ACSI program I Know How to Count and Write
and I Know Letters and Sounds. Your child will gain a love for learning and a solid foundation
for math and phonics. Students in K4 also go to chapel library motor development/PE daily and music.
Folders containing representative work are sent home on a daily basis.
The formal kindergarten year (K5) incorporates A Beka Book program on Number skills
and Language Arts with an emphasis on phonetic letters and sounds. This lively curriculum
gives students an excellent beginning in language arts and beginning reading skills.
Our math program is an activity-based curriculum with an emphasis on hands-on learning
and daily use of math skills. Kindergarten students participate in Bible and the library twice a month.
Each class also has a computer-learning center as well.
