Preschool in New York, NY 10027
The Hollingworth Preschool is an outgrowth of the early work of The Hollingworth Center and was initiated by the Center’s founding directors in 1984. This exemplary program provides a developmentally appropriate curriculum for three-, four-, and five-year-old children and their families. The children, who attend the school five half-days per week, participate in a classroom community that nurtures all aspects of their development. The mission of the Hollingworth Preschool is to enhance children’s problem-solving abilities, conflict-resolution skills, creative thinking, social development, and love of learning. The school values the diversity and richness of the community and enrolls children from varied backgrounds. The teachers at the Hollingworth Preschool are drawn exclusively from the graduate students at Teachers College. These positions include assistant, associate, and head teaching positions. As members of the preschool faculty, the teachers participate in a range of opportunities including ongoing staff development, curricula design, child studies, observations, and assessments. Each of these teaching positions is salaried and also includes tuition exemption.
